My Book
Peaceful Discipline
Using best practices from connection-based parenting, improv comedy, and trauma recovery, this peaceful parenting book brings JOY back to families. These positive discipline tips can help whether you’re raising toddlers, parenting preschoolers, or supporting school-age children with love and respect (and readers say many of the concepts apply to older children and adult relationships, too)! Effective for the hypersensitive child AND the strong-willed child, this book offers conscious parenting guidance for solving challenges and preventing them in the first place.
This book has more than 25 notable endorsements from experts in neuroscience and child development. Here are two examples:
“Offering a balance of science, practical experience, and new perspectives, Peaceful Discipline guides parents to a lifetime of easier, deeper, and stronger relationships with their kids.” – Tina Payne Bryson, PhD, New York Times best-selling author of The Whole-Brain Child and No Drama Discipline
“Accessible, tender, and wise, this book provides parents with actionable tips and strategies that will forge more connected and joyful relationships!” – Mona Delahooke, PhD, best-selling author of Beyond Behaviors and Brain-Body Parenting
What is Positive Parenting?
People are starting to take notice that positive parenting is not a passing fad, but rather, a way of raising emotionally healthy and securely attached kids while doing no harm to them. Plus, there’s now plenty of evidence that this type of connection-based parenting “works.”
In our approach, we remember that to discipline means to teach, not to punish. We show you how that works.
When we opt for positive discipline rather than punitive methods, we nurture the child’s developing mind. When we parent with respect, children feel safe to grow and thrive at their own pace. Kids will listen to people they trust, and when they no longer fear their parents, that trust grows naturally.
This greater trust offers us a paradigm shift from loving our kids unconditionally to also blessing them with unconditional love in the way we parent them. They won’t have to wonder if they’re “good enough” for us. Plus, it’s not just about what we feel for them; it’s also what our children perceive we feel about them. Their perception is their reality. How incredible it would feel to be raised in a home that feels full of love and acceptance? And how would we like to feel truly good about our parenting, perhaps allowing our inner child to heal along the way?
