Hi! I’m Sarah, founder of Dandelion Seeds Positive Parenting. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ll preface this by saying that although I’m a published writer and whatnot, I’m also a regular-everyday mama who sometimes gets tired and wonders why I put my car keys in the refrigerator. I’m real like that. (Is it just me?)
Here’s a bit about my background – the real, behind-the-scenes look.
I was raised primarily by a single parent (my wonderful and loving mom) in the U.S. Midwest. We traveled and lived in some pretty great places because of her job, but some parts of my upbringing were still quite tricky. You’ll see pieces of that in some of my work.
As an adult, I spent a lot of time (almost 20 years) traveling and working for a global corporation before turning to my forever passion – positive parenting. It’s amazing how much I learned from the corporate world about peacemaking, negotiating, and building emotional bridges to foster communication – and how much of that spills over into raising children. It was the two-decade parenting course I didn’t realize I was taking!
I later got married, divorced, and remarried. Soon thereafter, I was pregnant with my first daughter. I lost that child halfway through our pregnancy. Before long, I was pregnant again, and I have the joy of parenting that child here on Earth. I’ve experienced the highs and lows of motherhood. I appreciate them all for the gift that they are.
Here’s my secret, though. The behind-the-scenes me is the REAL me. I’m far from perfect – you’ll see the parenting mistakes I’ve worked past in my blog posts. You’ll see that I didn’t always have time (or energy) to make sure my “look” was “just right” for the camera in my courses. I’m here because I care. Because I get it.
I work hard to maintain a sense of balance, faith, and joy in my home. People have said that one of my strengths is seeing the good in any situation. Spreading kindness is my life goal.
I care about the world my child is growing up in. I care about you as a parent, and about the wellbeing of your children, too. We’re all in this together.
I hope that by sharing my own "real-ness" and vulnerability, I’ll help others on their journeys, as well. I’m here for you!
